V3.0 The Healer – Counter damage archetype

V3.0 The Healer class

Design thoughts: Technically the Healer is a booster since the goal of the class is to improve the performance of the party. It is however a special case of boosting as it does not increase the chances of success in doing something (usually pounding the enemies), but rather negates the effects of the enemies attempts to kill the party. As such the role is “counter damage” and the dedicated healer is the archetype class. There are several other classes that are designed to be able to do some healing (like in the previously posted Druid class) and there will be priest classes that are very competent at healing as well. Since the priest classes tends to be more setting specific they will not be among the first classes to be designed and posted here.

The concept for the healer class is a scholar or (non-“Martial Arts”) monk dedicated to use healing spells to aid his fellow adventurer by keeping them alive (and kicking)

T1 Healer

Design thoughts: The basic dedicated healer. His spells allows him to heal others in order to keep them up and fighting. With progression as a pure healer he will become less and less of a fighter but armed with a ranged weapon and keeping behind  the front line he still can get a shot or two in when not healing. Most likely an easy target if not supported by allies taking on the enemies. Botany and other scholarly skills and related effects is to be used in non combat encounters.
Combat role: Counter damage “Flavor”: Dedicated healer
Combat cards: 23 and 24
Roleplay: Botany and scholarly skills.

L2P: At tier one you are not so much less of a fighter than your fellow adventurers as you still have the basic attacks and maybe also one or two others from your background and ancestry. However, your main benefit for the party is to keep others up and fighting and that is hard to do when unconscious so do not charge into the midst of enemies.

T2 Healer

Design thoughts: Same as Healer.
Combat role: Counter damage “Flavour”: Dedicated healer
Combat cards: 43, 44 and 105
Roleplay: Endurance and intimidation, perhaps gambling as well.
L2P: Where other classes have gained some special offensive capabilities you have the tools to keep them up and fighting and without you they would not be able to use their fighting skills for long. Stay behind the line of scrimmage and keep healing your allies with the right spell at the right time.

T3 Healer

Design thoughts: Same as Healer.
Combat role: Counter damage “Flavour”: Dedicated healer
Combat cards: 60, 61 and 106
Roleplay: Endurance and intimidation, perhaps gambling as well.
L2P: Same as T2 healer
